This Privacy Policy explains how Atero Almanac collects, uses, stores, and protects information about visitors to the atero.info website. It applies to all pages of the site and to all forms of contact between you and the editorial team. Please read this policy carefully before using the site.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in two ways: information you provide directly, and information collected automatically when you visit the site.

2.1 Information you provide directly

When you use the contact form on the site, you provide us with your name, email address, and the content of your message. You may also provide a telephone number or other details if you choose to include them. This information is used solely to respond to your enquiry. It is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you visit atero.info, our server logs collect standard technical data including your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, and the referring URL. This data is used for security purposes and to understand how the site is being used. It is not linked to any personally identifiable information.

We also use cookies to improve your experience on the site. Please see our Cookie Policy for full details of how cookies are used.

3. How we use your information

Information collected via the contact form is used to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to follow up on editorial matters you have raised. It is retained for a period of 24 months following the close of correspondence, after which it is securely deleted.

Automatically collected technical data is used to maintain the security of the site, to identify technical issues, and to produce aggregated statistics on site usage. Aggregated statistics do not identify individual users.

We do not sell, rent, or exchange your personal data with third parties for their independent marketing use. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles or to serve targeted advertising via third-party platforms.

4. Legal basis for processing

The processing of data submitted via the contact form is carried out on the basis of your consent, given by submitting the form. You may withdraw this consent at any time by writing to [email protected].

The processing of automatically collected technical data is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interest in maintaining the security and proper functioning of the site.

5. Data retention

Contact form submissions are retained for 24 months following the close of the relevant correspondence. Server log data is retained for a period of 12 months and is then deleted. Cookie data is governed by the retention periods specified in the Cookie Policy.

If you request the deletion of your data at any point, we will action the deletion within 30 days of receiving your written request and confirm completion by return.

6. Third-party services

The site uses the following third-party services, which may collect data independently in accordance with their own privacy policies:

  • Google Maps: An embedded map on the Contact page is served by Google Maps. Google's data-handling practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Fonts: Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which may collect standard request data including your IP address.
  • Fontshare: Additional typefaces are loaded via the Fontshare CDN. Their handling of request data is governed by their privacy policy.
  • jsDelivr / unpkg / Cloudflare CDN: JavaScript libraries are loaded from these content delivery networks, which may collect standard request-level technical data.

Atero Almanac does not have access to the data collected by these services, and is not responsible for their data-handling practices. We recommend reviewing each provider's privacy policy if you have concerns.

7. Your rights

Under applicable data protection law, you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate data, to request deletion of your data, and to object to the processing of your data. You also have the right to data portability where processing is carried out by automated means.

To exercise any of these rights, please write to us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request. We may ask you to verify your identity before actioning the request.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority in your jurisdiction.

8. Security

The site is served exclusively over HTTPS. Contact form submissions are transmitted using industry-standard encryption. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or alteration.

No method of transmission over the internet is entirely secure. While we take appropriate precautions, we cannot ensure absolute security of data transmitted to or from the site.

9. Children

Atero Almanac is intended for adult readers. The site does not knowingly collect personal data from persons under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has submitted personal data to us, please contact us at [email protected] and we will action the deletion promptly.
